June is Men’s Health Month! Why? It was put in place to encourage men to start taking better care of their health. Did you know that men typical pass away five years earlier than women? It’s true. The loss of men in society impacts more than their immediate home. Men impact their workplace and their relationship with their family and friends has a ripple effect that affects society as well.

3 Men’s Health Tips:

  1. Get a physical
  2. Don’t forget to exercise
  3. Watch what you eat

Get a physical

Did you know men are less likely to visit a doctor than women? It’s true. While it may not surprise you that this is the case, it is one of the biggest factors in men’s health declining as they age. A lot of the diseases men die from are preventable. Things such as blood pressure, cholesterol, weight, and prostate are all things that can be monitored for improvement.

Don’t forget to exercise

After a long day, it is hard to get up and move. That is why we want to encourage you to encourage the men in your life to get up and get active. Whether it’s asking the man in your life to go on a walk or do some other activity it might seem like less work when it becomes a bonding experience. Exercise is something that can make a positive effect on your health.

Watch what you eat

The seemingly “good” foods that we crave always seem to taste better than the leafy green vegetables that our bodies need. Especially if the man in your life is a stress eater, he probably isn’t getting all the nutrients that his body needs. If you aren’t sure what a good lifestyle change is, be sure to have him speak to his doctor about the foods he should be eating and should cut out.

While these three things may seem so simple, it is important that you become an encourager in your man’s life or if you are a man reading this that you take the steps needed to live a healthier life. Remember, your health doesn’t just affect you but it affects everyone you love.
