The holiday season is here and in full force! But, how does celebrating the holidays in 2020 look different than in previous years? Well, it looks a lot different especially if your loved one is in an assisted living facility. But, just because things look different doesn’t mean you can’t make the most of it.

How to celebrate the holidays during COVID-19:

  1. Schedule Virtual Visits
  2. Send Care packages
  3. Take pride in knowing that you are protecting your loved one by not surrounding them with other germs.

Schedule Virtual Visits

Technology has its advantages! When times get tough and you can’t see your loved one due to distance or illness FaceTime and other video chat options make it easy to see and talk to your loved one like you are in the same room. With COVID-19 still spreading and likely to spread even more during the colder months with the typical flu season it is more important than ever to make sure you are not bringing in any germs to your loved ones. Older individuals are not able to recover as fast when sick as their body has slowed down. So, if you want to celebrate and let your loved one know you are thinking of them — schedule a virtual visit today.

Send care packages

Who doesn’t like receiving gifts? Things like cards and special treats are great to send as a reminder that you are thinking about your loved one. Sending specialty items for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas is a great reminder that you miss them during the holidays. Doing these little things can make it easier to be apart due to the fact that kind gestures show that you love them even if miles away.

Take pride in knowing that you are protecting your loved one by not surrounding them with other germs.

We know it’s hard because things have been drastically different this year — it’s hard on everyone. But, it’s important to understand that you are doing your part to really keep the people you love safe by socially distancing. Keeping your 6 feet, wearing your mask, and staying home when you don’t feel well, not only protects you but it protects the loved ones of others. We will all get through this together.
