“I have been working at Friends for 30 years, started as an STNA and have worked in various departments. I like Friends, the people are nice, I like the family environment. We have also hired 6 of my family members over the years and my aunt is living here.”
“I have been working at Friends for 25 years. This was my first job. I was hired as a special care assistant and the last 14 years have been in the dietary department. I love the residents, I’ve made a lot of good friends here. I don’t have grandparents and these residents are like my grandparents, I love the elderly. I have also loved getting to know the family members. Some people have said I found my calling."
“I was working at Friends as a DNA (pool aide) and on the 1st day I liked the way people were treated, I was respected. This place is also the cleanest place I have ever worked.“
“I have been working for Friends for 9 years and this is my 2nd career. I always wanted to work in Healthcare. I like being an STNA because I physically help the residents, make a difference in the residents’ lives with eye contact and touch. I like working at Friends because the Leadership looks out for us, they have kept us safe during the COVID. The housekeepers do a great job, this place is clean. And we all work as a team.”
“If you would have told me 8 years ago when I got hired at Friends Care as an LPN that I would be the Director of Nursing, I would not have believed it! My nursing career started about 10 years ago when I went to Clark State for the LPN program. My first round of clinicals started in the Friends Care Assisted Living, and when I was completing that program I ended with an internship at Friends that came full circle when I was hired after I passed my licensure. I was hired PRN and waited my turn at a FT position. I worked as a floor nurse for 6 months before being promoted into the Unit Manager position in the Assisted Living where I worked for about three years. Once I knew I was going back to school for my RN license I knew I wanted more experience so I transitioned to the Extended Care Manager when the position became available and a new exciting but challenging opportunity presented itself to me. Once I graduated and passed my licensure for my RN I was promoted into to the Director of Nursing position. The last 8 years have flown by, lots of hard work and dedication and the support from Friends Care has been amazing. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities that I have had at Friends Care, it is definitely a place that you can work and grow within the organization!”
“ I have been at Friends Care for 14 years. It all started in the early 90’s when I started out working as an STNA in a long term care facility. I knew at the beginning long term care is what I wanted to do and knew I wanted to continue up the ladder in health care. I went to school for my EMT and worked for the Fire department for eight years while still working in long term care. I continued my education and went to Clark State for my LPN. While in school I heard such great things about Friends Care, once I finished my LPN, Friends Care was the only place I wanted to start my nursing career. I started out as PRN nights and went to full time nights. Once the Rehab opened in 2011 I worked full time days in the rehab. I was promoted to Rehab manager and worked for 7 years as the rehab manager. This past year I was promoted to Assistant Director of Nursing. I am so grateful for all the opportunities I have had at Friends Care and hope to have many more years to come.”
